EZ MIDI PRO
Add MIDI, savable presets and tap tempo to guitar pedal designs.
Want to add modern features to your guitar effect designs? EZ MIDI PRO is based on our EZ MIDI Control board, but offers more customization and support.
What is EZ MIDI Pro?
We drew from 14 years of experience controlling effect circuits with digital technology. Then we integrated it into an STM32 microcontroller. We’ve reworked everything for modularity and customization. We can tailor to your specific needs. Share your vision with us, and we’ll help bring it to life. Contact us to get started
Minimum order 100. Pricing is competitive, but also is dependent on microcontroller cost/availability and level of customization. Additionally we can help with implementation.
For Pedal builders we can provide a customized version of our EZ MIDI control board or loose LQFP48 48 pin ICs. If more inputs or outputs are necessary a 64 pin IC is available as well.
Available Customization
- Hard coded factory reset data and presets. (this avoids the need to individually copy EEPROMs)
- Reassignment of PWM/CV pins.
- Lock feature via switch to disable controls to avoid accidentally changing settings during live performance.
- Change presets via foot switches.
- Additional control inputs, PWM/CV outputs and digital pots.
- Change MIDI CC assignments.
- Dual LFOs.
Other possibilities:
Digital pot options: We can code for other digital pots, but keep in mind we chose the MCP42xxx for its high resolution, smooth transition between settings and the ability to daisy chain multiple ICs. While there are more affordable digital pots, many have limitations.
More parameters using a “control matrix”: A control matrix involves using one knob or switch to change the function of other knobs with their own parameters. See examples like our Pometheus 3 or PixelWave.
Custom LFOs & Modulation: There’s plenty to choose from with EZ MIDI, but if you need something else, let us know.
OLED display: If EZ MIDI control detects an OLED display is connected it will display rudimentary parameters. The current implementation is meant for development and prototyping. Adding parameter names and displaying your company name when powered on is easy however there is a caveat.
When parameters change EZ MIDI stops everything to send data to the display. This creates a delay of about 50ms. This can be noticeable especially on modulation effects as the LFO will pause. Avoiding the delay can be complicated and dependent on other factors. It may require a larger IC depending on your needs. You’ll need to inquire for direct answers.
Clock based delay: Want to control analog delay? We’ve got a working prototype controlling a pair of MN3205s. If you need something else let us know. This will require some external components as the microcontroller can not directly drive the BBD clock pins.
MIDI out: It can be done, contact us for more details.
If you have other needs let us know.
